Progression Module Plus: Information for Admissions Tutors and Partner HEPs

The Progression Module Plus has been designed to reflect the information, advice and guidance priorities for post-16 learners, and the content is appropriate for all Level 3 students – including those motivated by work-based options as well as those who plan to enter Higher Education. From a school/college perspective it provides a comprehensive careers education model with significant overlap with the Gatsby career guidance benchmarks. Progression Module Plus encompasses four areas divided into the following module components:

  1. You and Your Career
  2. Exploring Your Future
  3. Managing Your Money
  4. Marketing Yourself

Progression Module Plus also engages students in additional enhancement activities facilitated by GHWY partners including on-campus subject enhancement days.

The module is delivered and assessed by tutors within schools and colleges, with a selected cohort of learners subject to an external moderation process, led by a team of moderators. Students who successfully complete the module are awarded 12 UCAS points and invited to attend a formal graduation ceremony.

Recording UCAS Points

The Progression Module is added to the qualification section of a UCAS form as an ‘other’ type, given the qualification title of “Progression Module” and the awarding institution as Leeds Beckett University (LBU) or the University of Huddersfield (UOH). The date of completion is also added, giving the month and date when the student completed the module. Reference to the Progression Module can also be made in the Personal Statement and teacher reference.

Confirmation of UCAS points

Students are awarded a GHWY certificate on successful completion of the module, awarded in the November of Year 13/FE Year 2.

Leeds Beckett University keep a central record of students who have been awarded the points on a secure database. Queries about individual students can be accessed by calling the Progression Module team on 0113 812 4933 or emailing
