GHWY Area Manager (Project) / Higher Level Skills Manager

I grew up in Leeds and studied English Literature at Newcastle University and a Masters in English Literature at the University of Leeds. Before joining Go Higher West Yorkshire I focused on developing partnerships with businesses and communities, with a particular focus on growing opportunities for young people within the creative sector.

As Higher Level Skills Manager, I help connect the work of our member institutions to existing activity and new opportunities in West Yorkshire, to better support adult learners to understand the progression routes into and through the whole range of higher education, as well as supporting strong integration of alternative HE options into the wider work of the team. I also support the work of member institutions to help employers better connect with HE and their own future workforce.

I also work as a part-time Area Manager for the Uni Connect project, focusing on the development of a set of recommendations for target underrepresented groups (URGs). These recommendations will be developed into collateral our staff can use and a plan will be developed to discuss how it can be embedded in our practice, strategies and future planning.
