New online careers activities launched

Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has launched a series of Virtual Work Experience (VWX) resources in partnership with Go Higher West Yorkshire.

They will allow students to gain insight to the workplace during a challenging time. The videos, animations and challenges will replace the usual, and currently unavailable, face-to-face work experience offer.

They include a range of employer related challenges in Construction, Manufacturing/ Engineering, Digital and Health Tech. These aim to make students aware of the key skills needed for each sector, the desired qualifications and also to showcase some of the lesser-known career opportunities available.

There are also a number of role model videos including virtual tours. The Live Brief project will give young people the opportunity to take part in a one of a kind ‘Virtual Work Experience Journey’.

To access the resources, please register here. Teacher guides are included for suggested delivery modes.

We have also created a range of subject specific Collaborative Taster Days with our HE partners and local employers.

This year’s tasters will cover English, Business and Finance, Education, Policing and Criminology. Each event will be launched on our website towards the end of March.

Our taster days will provide a great opportunity to gain an insight into subject sectors and careers with input from specialists in that field. This will allow students to engage with HE institutions in a virtual environment.
