Rhubarb Radio & GHWY combine for ‘From Here to There’ radio Show: Episode 2 Student Finance

Go Higher West Yorkshire have teamed up with Rhubarb Radio in Wakefield to create and deliver the ‘From Here to There’ radio show. The second episodes clips are embedded into this blog entry (see below).

James Kennedy, Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer at Leeds Beckett University

Beth Milner, graduate intern at Leeds Beckett University

This second episode includes conversations with:

James Kennedy, Schools and Colleges Liaison Officer at Leeds Beckett University. Part of James’ role involves him speaking to students, staff, parents/carers and guardians about all aspects of university life. When I met up with James, we discussed some of the financial aspects of university life, in particular: student loans and budgeting. He had much good advice to give – and a personal story about his successful journey into Higher Education.

The show also includes a conversation with Beth Milner. Beth is a Graduate intern at Leeds Beckett University. She graduated in 2018 with a 2:1 in Theatre & Performance. Beth is spending this year working in the Access & Widening Participation Department, but also runs her own Performance Company: ‘We are Emily’.

Beth shared her experiences of being a student, in particular how she coped, financially.

We hope you enjoy these conversations. Please find supporting links to everything discussed below.

Next episode includes an interview with Principal of Minsthorpe Community College, Ray Henshaw and Outreach Officer for Kirklees College, Sian Bex – who will be promoting an upcoming SEND event, is coming soon!

As ever, thanks for listening, Tom Senior (GHWY/NCOP/LBU Outreach Officer)
