Go Higher West Yorkshire’s programme of good practice sharing events aimed exclusively at our Higher Education (HE) provider partners was launched on 30 April 2018.
Addressing Barriers to Student Success, held at Leeds Beckett University, gave staff the opportunity to experience the benefits of the partnership by gaining insight into innovative thinking and projects across the region. It also offered the chance to share best practice and network with colleagues.
Delegates from nine of Go Higher West Yorkshire’s college and university partners attended three interactive seminars that were delivered by HEFCE Catalyst Project leaders and developed with our collaborative objectives in mind. Each seminar addressed a differing need and solution in relation to the success of students from under-represented backgrounds in HE. They introduced delegates to the theory, practice and learning of each project, and gave people the chance to reflect on their potential transferability.

The inaugural event was well received by delegates, with one commenting that they “would recommend similar sessions to colleagues” and another praising the “interesting and broad spectrum of activity.” 86% of delegates agreed that they felt motivated to capitalise on emerging good practice across the partnership.
